Outdoor activities and places to see around Glencoe.
This place is all about enjoying the incredible outdoors right here on our doorstep, and we have extensive information about dozens of things to do in the area that we send you when you book.
There are a few below, for starters. However, if all that sounds like way too much effort, please feel welcome to do absolutely nothing if you just want a break and to get away from it all. The Cottage at Sealladh na Beinne can be your ‘home away from home’ where you can simply relax and do very little indeed.
We are lucky to be located along National Cycle Network Route 78 (NCN 78) also known as The Caledonia Way. Ours is the ideal place to stay, rest and securely store your bikes, gear and packs if you’re doing (part of) this terrific route for more).
Bike hire (including e-bikes) is available nearby. Contact us for details.
The options here are so numerous and so dependent on your interests and the season, that it’s best to keep it brief: a site like WalkHighlands is a decent place to start if you’re not sure yet what kind of walking you’re hoping for. However, there are enough Ramblers’ groups in the area to allow you to walk with one each day of the week (as a guest) depending on the grade of the walks. More information can be found in our accommodation or by contacting us.
We are open all year and have two excellent ski resorts on our doorstep: Glencoe Mountain and Nevis Range. We can securely store and dry your gear for you.
We can advise you about nearby spa treatments, horse-riding, (indoor) ice climbing, gin making, sea safaris, and many other fun things to do in our area. When you book, we will provide you with a list of great stuff that’s available within a 6-mile, traffic-free easy cycling and walking route.
Scotland has a terrific food and drink scene, and our area offers some hidden gems as well as famous old favourites. Local gin and rum are made a mile from here and there’s an award-winning seafood restaurant only 4 miles away. Our local pub is walking distance, has a cosy fireplace, a great selection of whiskies, gins and beers, an excellent kitchen and outside decking area with fabulous views.
We have several other good pubs and restaurants at easy walking or (safe) cycling distance and will send you a guide we’ve made for this when you book. If you’d like us to book you in for dinner anywhere, we can do that as booking is essential throughout most of the year. (And there’s even a takeaway pizza place nearby for when you’re feeling really sophisticated).
There are taxis available in the local area, which must be pre-booked.
Our location is within easy reach of a vast number of famous landmarks and attractions, such as Glencoe, Glen Etive, Ben Nevis, Glenfinnan, the West Highland Way and the Great Glen Way, two ski centres, various museums and a partridge in a pear tree.
Towns like Oban, Mallaig and Fort William are easily accessible and are all ‘gateways’ to other places such as several Hebridean islands and the Great Glen and Inverness.
Whether it’s culture you’re after or a good bit of hillwalking on the countless Munros and Corbetts dotted around the place, there’s something here for everybody.
Please let us know when booking whether you’d prefer 1 super-king size bed or 2 twins.
